This year we celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori during the week of 11th September until the 18th of September 2023. This year's theme was Kia Kaha Te Reo Māori – making the language stronger.

To help support tamariki, whanau, and kaiako to Acknowledge and celebrate this amazing and important week. We put a challenge out to everyone, for this whole week to only use Te Reo for our common phases within our centre.

These words were Kai (food), Karakia (prayer), Morena (morning), Kei te pēhea koe? (how are you?) ect. We also incorporated waiata, kanikani, and activities throughout the week. A few of our tamariki loved learning the Haka and did well to practise their pukana.

We also had the privilege of a few parents and whanau joining in and supporting us in teaching waiata, and arts and crafts. Overall this week taught us all the importance of using Te Reo every day to keep our language alive and it is an official language of New Zealand and an intrinsic part of our country's heritage.

We want to thank all our lovely whanau and tamariki for an amazing week and look forward to continuing our journey to improving our Te Reo.
