2024 Cultural Olympics at BestStart Palmerston North
During August, Beststart Palmerston North successfully held a cultural day. The event's topic was physical play in the 2024 Summer Olympics. It was like a colourful parade as staff and tamariki wore outfits that represented their cultures or whānau values.
This wasn't just about wearing different clothes; it was a chance for our young tamariki to learn and connect with where they come from. The fun didn't stop there; we had lots of sports activities, such as rippa rugby, relay, and bike races. All tamariki benefit from an inclusive learning environment that embraces other cultures; on this day, this was amply demonstrated as we celebrate and affirm who we are while also fostering positive knowledge and understanding of both our own and other cultures.
The parents showed their support with a unique way to represent their country's culture; this could be easily witnessed in the photographs and made the day feel personal and genuine. However, this event was all about uniting the 'BestStart community' as a whole, where Kaiako and whānau form a solid relationship for the tamariki.
At Best Start Palmerston North, we always work together and take the whole village to raise the child, connect with others, and thrive in society as a lifelong learner.
