A Bus Trip to the Nee Naw Show!
Today a group of tamariki from across the centre had the special chance to go and see Deano Yipadee (the author of the Nee Naw books) in a live show at Winchester School. It was so exciting and we had such an amazing time! If you ever get a chance to go to one of his shows - we absolutely recommend it. You can also subscribe to his YouTube channel to listen and watch all his fun stories and songs.
Firstly, we got to ride on the coach and pick up our friends from the other BestStart centres and we were able to see trains, airplanes and even a helicopter as we drove past the airport. We had some morning tea before the show started and then we got to enjoy the amazing show! Deano is very funny and extremely interactive with the audience so all the tamariki were dancing, doing the actions and singing at points during the show.
Then it was time to go home and our amazing bus driver allowed some of the children to press the button that opened and closed the doors on the bus! How amazing! We all had a fantastic time and we were thrilled to be able to provide the children with such an incredible experience.
Excursions are very valuable experiences in Early Childhood and they provide children with a chance to: interact with their community and strengthen friendships; enjoy a range of different experiences and enable them to gain a sense of the world in which they find themselves; embrace the unfamiliar and often every sense is employed in observing and understanding what they’re experiencing and they enhance children's learning and memory, broaden their perspectives, and foster a love for learning. Plus they are amazing fun!
