A Visit From A Big Mack Truck
A Big Mack Truck visited BestStart Kelvin Grove as part of our fun Holiday Programme. WOW!!! Thank you so much to Mack's whānau for contributing to vehicle day by bringing in a Mack truck for us to see. How awesome to not only have a truck, but Mack's namesake truck... a MACK TRUCK!!!!
Our tamariki bravely observed the big truck, and took on the challenge of getting in and out of the truck. They explored all the parts of the truck - the steering wheel, the flat deck, the shiny metal, the giant wheels, even the "honk" noise of the horn! We love celebrating contributions that whānau make to our curriculum and supporting children to make connections between people, places and things.
Mack was proud to have his dad, brother and cousins here too. A huge shout out to the amazing folks at PTS Logistics for giving our tamariki such an amazing hands-on learning experience. Learning opportunities are greater when children have the chance to experience something first hand.
Not only does it allow children the opportunity to use all their senses when they are exploring a new object or experience, but it also helps to develop communication and language skills as experiences give children something to talk about, and consequently, further develops their understanding of the world.
