Recently in the Under 2's area the tamariki have had a huge interest on exploring all kinds of messy, sandpit, and water play. In the Fern Room, children have loved using different tools and resources to manipulate, scoop, tip, pour and transfer different materials, and the Pepe have focused on exploring with their hands, experiencing the different textures and reaching and grabbing for objects amongst the messy play.

Messy play is more than just a fun way to pass the time; it’s a critical component of early childhood development. For children under 2, exploring the world through messy play supports sensory development, motor skills, creativity, emotional expression, and social interactions. So the next time your little one dives into a tub of paint or splashes in a puddle, remember that they’re not just making a mess—they’re making significant strides in their development.

Embrace the mess, celebrate the exploration, and enjoy watching your child learn and grow in the most delightful ways. If this sounds like something you would love for you child to get involved in (without the mess at home!) please come and see us, and have a look at what we have to offer. We have a space for you!
