ANZAC Day at BestStart Kelvin Grove
ANZAC Day at BestStart Kelvin Grove. When teaching our tamariki about ANZAC Day, we focus on the collective pride of our country and the honour of our New Zealand force.
We talk about the freedom we have, to feel safe because of their sacrifice. We explore the spirit of ANZAC by discussing courage, mateship and about caring for each other and the world as a whole. Our tamariki learn about the significance of both red and purple poppies.
We were fortunate enough to have one of our dads, David come in and read the ANZAC Ted book and show us his medals. Some tamariki brought in photos of their whānau who are in the Defence Force to show their teachers and friends. We made ANZAC bracelets and our amazing cook baked delicious ANZAC Cookies. T
he tamariki made a wreath and some of our whānau met us at the Ashhurst ANZAC Day Service so we could pay our respects and lay our wreath. It was such a meaningful learning opportunity.
It is always so amazing to have support from our centre community and also to be involved in the wider community. Lest we forget.
