Bunnings Visits BestStart North Harbour!
The teachers and children at BestStart North Harbour felt privileged when Bunnings Constellation came to visit us. The friendly team from Bunnings brought us a variety of things we needed for planting. They brought us carrot seedlings and seeds, soil for planting, and pots. They also provided us with gloves and a small shovel to ensure that we had all the things we needed for the planting experience.
Our tamariki had the best learning experience. They learned the skill of planting and how to look after the plant. The communication between the team from Bunnings, the kaiako, and the children was authentic and natural as they asked questions about how big the carrot plants can grow, when they can eat it, and how can they look after it. It was a wonderful learning experience for both the children and the teachers.
The connection we built with the local community was a great achievement. We are very thankful for the opportunity. The children developed a sense of responsibility in looking after their plants and being proud of the task they accomplished. The children felt empowered as they developed a sense of connection to others, the environment, and the local community.
