Celebrating Chinese Language Week at BestStart Ascot Avenue
This week, we celebrated Chinese Language Week with a special focus on Chinese cultural heritage. Our teachers and children dressed in traditional Chinese attire, showcasing the elegance and beauty of Chinese fashion. It was a stunning visual experience, allowing the children to appreciate the richness of the culture.
We also organised a calligraphy session where the children practised writing Chinese numbers using traditional brushes. It was impressive to see how quickly they adapted to holding the brushes properly, and they seemed fascinated by the flowing strokes of the characters. This experience gave them a taste of the ancient art of Chinese calligraphy.
In addition, we shared the history of the traditional Chinese round fan, explaining its beautiful silk design and cultural significance. After learning about the fan’s history, the children got creative and made their own paper fans, designing them with colourful patterns. This hands-on activity allowed them to express their creativity while staying connected to Chinese traditions.
To wrap up the day, we danced to traditional Chinese music, proudly waving the handmade fans. The children had a fantastic time, and the combination of learning and fun made it an unforgettable day for everyone involved.
