Celebrations at Seymour Kindy
At Seymour Road Kindy, we are a small cohesive team and take pride in acknowledging diverse cultures, thereby celebrating the big and small events in our own special way.
The year 2024 has been quite busy for us as a centre as we got involved in celebrating different events. We celebrated the Waitangi Day at Kindy by renewing our centre treaty and as a team, teachers and children constructed the centre rules relevant to our current curriculum and centre philosophy that focusses on child-led learning and children’s holistic development.
The Library Lover’s Day and Valentine’s Day was another great event wherein the tamariki participated in group reading, story-telling and making love heart cards for their whānau. We acknowledged the Chinese New Year by making lanterns, learning the cultural dance, and eating special Chinese dishes made by one of the parents.
Our centre got involved as a team to uphold the importance of the Plunket. We had a week-long Plunket-appeal activities such as dance, athletics, dress-ups, ice-cream making, teddy’s/picnic, and movie days spread out throughout the week where in the teachers and children contributed with full zeal and managed to raise a good amount of Koha for the Plunket from the wonderful whānau.
The most recent event has been Easter which entailed an egg hunt and special morning tea of hot-cross buns and milo. Talking about Morning-tea, we encourage children to eat healthy and provide fruits for morning-tea besides being a full lunch-box centre.
We are a multicultural team and are proud to witness excellent mahi-tahi, tuakana-teina, collaboration and effective communication amongst our tamariki in their everyday learning journey at Kindy.
