Developing Gross Motor Skills
The children at BestStart Dannemora have been so busy with lots of physical activities. The children often participate in physical movement, especially when they get to use their climbing skills to travel up and down our outdoor environments, as well as having fun through messy play!
They really enjoy when they get to use the plank for climbing up and sliding down and there are times when they like to go to the sandpit and use their physical movements there. They love to scoop sand with the spade and move up and down with it. They also explore the sand with their hands. They like to play with resources such as sports equipment as well so we got creative and created our own Ball Game where they got to reach for the balls and aim/stick it on the board.
All these activities allow them to develop their gross motor skills and physical skills. These can extend to their body movements, which include extending their balancing skills and body strength/stability. These activities also allow the children to develop their creativity and thinking skills.
The best part is that while the children are doing these activities and learning, they are participating in something that they would be interested in and therefore have lots of fun too.
