Diwali celebrations for 2023
We had a fun-filled week, starting with our vibrant festivities of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights. At BestStart Coronation, we joyously marked this occasion with our wonderful community.
Our charming children, adorned in traditional attire, engaged in various activities illustrating the cultural significance of Diwali. Teachers collaborated with the children to craft candles, and salt dough diyas, create rangolis, and prepare traditional Indian sweets and dishes. We extend our gratitude to Komal (Amyra’s mom) and her nani, Pushpa, for their support in cooking and crafting Diwali cards. Sakshi (Nikunj’s mom) joined us for heena designs and cooking, while Poorvi (Aaira’s mom) added to the celebration.
The children not only enjoyed the festivities but also imbibed lessons in respect, sharing, and love for one another. Despite some parents being occupied with work, their thoughtful gesture of sharing sweets was appreciated. Special thanks to Raayan’s family for sharing delicious sweets, skillfully prepared by his grandma and mom.
The children delighted in observing their teacher's lighting diyas, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. The week concluded with a captivating story time by Ani, a librarian from the Papatoeote Library, emphasizing the importance of creating a local curriculum through connections with our community.
Linking to Te Whaariki, our activities align with goals such as contribution, belonging, and learning outcomes, fostering a holistic educational experience. We express heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to our celebration and extend warm wishes for a joyous Diwali. Attached are some photos capturing the spirit of our celebration.
