Exciting New Outdoor Equipment and Cultural Celebrations!
This week, we introduced new outdoor equipment in both the Tui and Kiwi rooms, creating an even more engaging environment for physical play. The children have loved spending time outside, developing their gross motor skills, and their enthusiasm is evident in the photos—plus, all the activity has certainly boosted their appetites!
On Tuesday, we celebrated the Chinese Moon Festival with some exciting activities. During mat time, we explored the eight phases of the moon and shared the significance of the full moon during this special festival. The children were captivated by the concept! They also had a creative session, cutting out full moons and rabbits to arrange on black cards, and enjoyed making “mooncakes” with playdough. It was a wonderfully hands-on experience for everyone.
Later in the week, we celebrated Korea’s Thanksgiving. The tamariki painted full moons, made traditional rice cakes called ‘Songpyeon’, and participated in the traditional ‘Ganggangsullae’ dance, giving them a meaningful introduction to different cultural traditions.
Additionally, we've been actively engaging the children in Māori Language Week, with a wide range of planned activities. It’s been a week full of learning, fun, and cultural exploration! We look forward to celebrating more events and creating more learning moments in the upcoming weeks!
