Excursion to the Park
It was a beautiful sunny day today. Our babies had a great time exploring our local park. Babies had so much fun playing on the swings, slides, trampoline, popping the bubbles, collecting some natural resources and singing songs.
Natural resources are gifts from Papa-tū-ā-nuku (Mother Earth) and are fundamental learning experiences. They also enjoyed eating some Anzac cookies. Through this experience babies enhanced their gross and fine motor skills along with hand-eye coordination.
Children develop strategies for actively exploring and making sense of the world by using their bodies, including active exploration with all the senses. Excursions are a great opportunity for our children to make connections with the wider world.
Our babies made some poppy flowers and we displayed in the park. It was the “Symbol of Remembrance” to mark the ANZAC day celebration. Children experienced a great time of learning and doing. Making poppy flowers, learning its significance, colouring some ANZAC pictures, baking Anzac cookies were some of the activities’ children did in the centre.
Kaiako have explained the importance of ANZAC day to the tamariki and brought awareness among the children about how the brave soldiers STOOD, FOUGHT, AND DIED for their nation during the world wars.
