Exploring our Community at BestStart Whangaparaoa
Today, we were very fortunate to take some children on an excursion to our local beach, Arkles Beach. It was a fantastic day for it, with the sun shining brightly as we strolled through a tunnel shaded by trees. Along Whangaparaoa Road, we heard the loud noises of passing cars and motorbikes and the children were excellent at holding their teachers' hands as we walked.
They were thrilled to venture out from the centre and explore our local community, seeing familiar shops and places they had previously been to with their families. It took us approximately 10-15 minutes to reach the beach. Most of the children took off their shoes and enjoyed walking near the water. Some ran away as the waves chased them, while others happily played in the water. The older boys embarked on a treasure hunt and discovered some Kina among the rocks. They were curious about it and wanted to know more, finding its appearance interesting.
It was a beautiful experience for us to immerse ourselves in nature and appreciate how fortunate we are to live in a place with such close access to the beach. Although the uphill walk back posed a bit of a challenge, it was a great experience for our children to be out and about in our amazing community. We're eagerly looking forward to our next excursion very soon
