Graduation Ceremony at BestStart North Harbour
At BestStart North Harbour, we ensure that graduation is a memorable milestone in a child's life. We celebrate their achievement as they transition from preschool to school. We also acknowledge parents' hard work and contribution towards each child's learning and development.
As we celebrate the child's graduation, the child sits in the front wearing a special korowhai and homemade hat. One of the teachers revisits their learning journey from when the child first started in the centre and highlights special moments and achievements. We encourage the child to talk about their learning and experiences with teachers and friends. The teacher will hand the child a graduation certificate and a bag filled with school supplies.
Parents are welcome to bring food to celebrate the child's last day in the centre. Our centre cook offers healthy food ideas to parents. In this particular graduation, the parent prepared a nicely presented platter of fruits. Our centre cook also bakes the child's graduation cake and she encourages the child to be involved in the planning. Our graduate drew the items and ingredients needed to bake the cake and during this process, we support the child in choosing healthy options.
Our goal as a team in celebrating children's graduation is to ensure that there is collaboration between the child, the teachers and parents. We aim for the child to have the best experience as they finish their journey with us and embark on a new adventure.
