The month of March signifies a very special celebration that I have been involved in most of my life. As a Hindu, we celebrate the festival of "Holi", this festival symbolises love, friendships and the arrival of spring in my country. To enhance the children's knowledge as seen in our centre philosophy BS Kawaha Point to activitely celebrate the uniqueness of cultures and to also recognise our tamariki who are of the same culture.

I set up coloured water for the children to apply to each other in a friendly, kind way. Holi is seen as a time to celebrate the beauty of colour, the colours for example red signifies love and yellow signifies turmeric which is a spice that we can use to cook and has been associated with healing.

The children were excited to have this opportunity and be free of rules to cover each other in different colours. inclusiveness is certainly a pivotal part of the festival as are feasts and dance and everyone are all encouraged to take part. A caption I found is "here to Holi that's as bright as the stars, as colourful as the rainbow and as joyful as a child's laughter".
