Matariki at BestStart Rolleston
Our annual Matariki evening was a so Much fun. The children put on a small performance for the whanau including "Row Row Row your Waka" and the "Matariki Macarena." A huge thank you to Libina and Prabh for organizing this. The children all looked so confident preforming for their families, with big smiles on their faces and a sound knowledge of the actions.
Robyn created Lovely star wishes for the event with the children, and these looked great hanging from the trellis. We used this opportunity to show Maanakitanga by providing hot home made vegetable soup with bread rolls, hot chocolate and star cookies that the children made with Ericka.
We were a little disappointed that it was overcast as we usually get the telescope out to observe the stars but we were pleased that the weather cleared up enough for the big highlight of the night for many: toasting marshmallows and making smores on the camp fire.
We would like to express a huge thank you to all the team for working hard to organize this event and to all our families who made an effort to come out on a cold winter night fot this event!
