It’s been a bustling and eventful month in Wai-iti, with the tamariki still completely captivated by the Nee-naw books. To keep their interest growing, we’ve expanded our collection to include new favorites like Moto Mike, Dusty the Digger, and Ellie Copter. The enthusiasm these stories inspire has been incredible, with the children eagerly getting up to dance along to the rhythm of the words.

Many of them have even memorized the entire book, which shows just how engaged they are! It’s wonderful to see their joy and excitement during storytime, especially when they can actively participate. To build on this enthusiasm, we recently organized a special visit from the Richmond volunteer fire crew, who brought their impressive fire truck for the tamariki to explore.

The children had an unforgettable experience, as they were allowed to sit inside the truck, interact with some of the firefighting equipment, and ask questions. Some were even lucky enough to hold the fire hose, which was certainly a memorable moment. The grand finale came when the crew departed in style, with lights flashing and sirens blaring, much to the children's delight.

Their excitement was palpable, and it’s clear this experience left a lasting impression, sparking even more curiosity about the world around them.
