Nursery - Core Relationships
In our Kakano (under 2’s) room, here at Best-Start Roydvale, we value responsive and reciprocal relationships between kaiako and tamariki. Through nurturing those special moments, we are ensuring that we are providing opportunities where together tamariki and kaiako are able to create strong bonds and develop a secure attachment.
We aim to work in a partnership with whanau as we believe this is the best way to provide cohesive routines between home and nursery. We believe that once tamariki feel they have a place and they feel safe and comforted by their kaiako they are then able to build a strong sense of belonging within our nursery. This sense of belonging allows them to feel comfortable as they begin to explore their new environment making discoveries and learning about the world around them through their play.
Many of our current tamariki show these secure connections and strong relationships with their kaiako through their wonderful day to day interactions and the way that they will happily spend time with their kaiako for cuddles of happiness or comfort.
We love that our older children who have moved on to the next room, still continue these bonds as they know we are a familiar face over the playground fence and will often call out to wave as they play.
