Our Bunny, Butter!
November has been a month of mixed emotions. We sadly had to say goodbye to our treasured bunny, Butter. Butter was a big part of all our lives. He has survived cyclones, over-enthusiastic tamariki, many diets, and over-feeding, being kidnapped and returned.
He enjoyed trips home to some of our whanau where he was treated to luxury accommodation, he had a lovely retirement home built by one of our dads from Cates Construction and loads of care and love from all tamariki. Butter was a companion, confidant, counselor, and a constant and valuable member of our team.
Our ceremony was lovely and karakia and waiata were performed by those in attendance before he was put to rest with his daisies. A kowhai bush was planted to protect him and keep him company and a constant memorial to our treasured Butter. A carrot cake was kindly donated by one of our kaiako from Beststart Pipiwai Road and chocolate chip biscuits were made and given for this ceremony too.
As the weather continues to be sporadic here in Northland we have been enjoying the sunny days with gardening. We have enjoyed harvesting lettuces and planting corn and beetroot seedlings. We love giving away seedlings too and have sent pumpkin, beans, and carrot seedlings home.
As the Christmas season is upon us we have been getting Kindy all ready for our Christmas Party on December 6th. Tamariki has been helping to make kawakawa balm for their gift to their parents as our kawakawa plant is finally ready for harvesting. We have also had donations from whanau to add to our kawakawa.
We have a fun holiday program in place for the end of December and the beginning of January filled with many themed days.
