BestStart Manukau tamariki had one of the most amazing excursions this week. We were thrilled to take them on a trip to the Auckland Art Gallery. Our tamariki have been learning about sustainable practices, being very thoughtful about recycling materials and using them to create art. The Auckland Art Gallery was the perfect venue for them to visit, as it showcases a wide range of national art made from recycled materials and resources derived from nature.

The experience was even more special because the children had dedicated guides who took them through different rooms, each displaying gigantic 3D art right in the centre. The children could sit amidst the environment and enjoy the interactive learning resources offered to them, allowing for a deeper understanding of the art. They saw and touched artworks made from sand, shell, and wool, and learned about the regions of New Zealand these materials came from and the special meanings they hold.

Since returning from the excursion, the children have continued to reflect on their experiences, sharing their thoughts with friends, teachers, and family. They are now more inspired than ever to create their own masterpieces using natural resources.
