Pepi room upgrade
How exciting to have our Pepi area finished with new renovations. We have had a new changing area, kitchen, flooring and our non-mobile area made twice the size all ready for our Pepi to return to our centre. What a lovely fresh, clean learning environment to explore, play and learn in.
There is now plenty of space for our tamariki to move and explore at their own pace giving them the freedom to strengthen and develop all their muscles and co-ordination, supporting them to gain confidence, learn balance, body awareness, concentration, problem-solving, and a sense of self. It is also believed that freedom of movement leads to children having greater physical security, sensory awareness, and skill development.
This links nicely with our centre purakau and localised curriculum around Te Rau-o-te-Rangi who showed all these skills when swimming from Kapiti Island with her Pepi on her back to save her tribe at Te Ati Awa from being destroyed.
As kaiako we truly believe that by this amazing renovated area, support, guidance, love and most of all learning through play our Pepi are truly going to continue thriving within our centre.
Please feel free to pop in any time and come and have a look around and koreo with our kaiako.
