School Holiday Fun at BestStart Silverstream
Kia ora e te hapori whānui, This week at Beststart Silverstream we have been having lots of fun with themed days for the school holiday period. Monday we enjoyed a spa day where we got our nails painted and had bubble foot baths. In the prep room we practiced super hero breathing techniques and a spot of meditation!
My first customers made sure to let everyone know how relaxing the foot baths were which sparked a lot of interest in the other tamariki. For sensory day we had a range of experiences available throughout the day. We started the day with 'sensory boards' made by the amazing kaiako Hazel!
This was a massive hit with our tamariki as this captured their attention and held it for the whole morning! Later in the afternoon we explored the mystery that is oobleck which is a liquid when poured but a solid when it experiences force. We experimented as we mixed in colours with our hands and picked up chunks just to watch them turn back to liquid and drip between our fingers!
We didn't let the sensory fun end there as we mixed colours with shaving foam and explored the texture with our hands and the smell with our noses. We continued the exploration into kai as we had a range of foods that were a range of soft and hard! Hope you enjoyed our themed day update!
