School Holiday Programme – Speedway Day!
Here at BestStart Kelvin Grove we have a fun holiday programme each school holidays. We want to ensure that our tamariki are still excited to come to the centre, even when their siblings are home from school.
Some of the highlights this holiday season have been:
- Making Crafty Christmas Cards and delivering them to our neighbours.
- Farm Day where we excited to visit the Chamberlain Family Farm and saw horses, chickens, dogs, and much more.
- Wearable Arts Day where we made costumes from recycled materials and showcased them on the runway.
- Kaiako Expertise Day where Joey demonstrated his MMA skills, Cindy shared her passion for Paint by Numbers, Tianii got grooving with her Hip Hop Dancing sessions, and Helen taught the art of crochet.
- Water Fight Day where tamariki brought their togs and water guns and even the teachers needed a change of clothes!
- Australia Day where we went on an Australian animal hunt and explored aboriginal art.
But one of the crowd favourites was definitely Speedway Day. We are grateful for the Mabey and Rees families who have stock cars and were lucky enough to have three stockcars visit us including the 1st and 3rd in NZ!
It was so excited to hear the rumble as the cars pulled into our carpark. The tamariki had the opportunity to get in the stock cars and ask the driver’s questions. We were given some super cool speedway stickers and continued the theme by making chequered flags and having chequered table cloths at meal times.
