Scientist In The Making
This term we have been extending our children's knowledge about the world of science, providing exciting opportunities for our young scientist to learn and explore how science works in the natural world! From exploding volcanos to chia seed gloop, solids, liquids, expansion, contraction and everything in between, each day our teaching team set up fun experiments to engage and expand on concepts and ideas.
Our little scientist did a self-inflating balloon experiment using baking soda and vinegar to see if they could blow up a balloon. Our scientist hypothesized about what would happen to the balloon if the two ingredients mixed together. Some said it will explode, some said it will bubble up, some said it will blow up the balloon. It didn't work the first time with the balloon popping. This only made our scientist even more determined to try again and this time it worked!
Our little scientist loved this experiment and were so intrigued as they watched the vinegar and baking soda react to blow up the balloon. In another experiment our scientist added salt to their water colour paintings! Everyone was very engaged as they used water droppers to add small drops of water colour to their paper before sprinkling salt on top. As they added the salt, they noticed that it started to puff up as the salt absorbed the water, how exciting!
Our little scientist showed patience, turn-taking skills and responsibility by cleaning up the mess afterwards! Come join our little scientists on their next experiment and learning journey at BestStart Inglewood!
