Set for School is Cool at BestStart Rangiora!
At BestStart Rangiora, our Set for School programme is something that we weave into our everyday programme, with our kaiako taking turns each week with who is responsible for our planned learning.
Our learning experiences range from learning during mat times as a group, to tabletop experiences, to learning in our outdoor environment. Sometimes we end up engaged in spontaneous learning too, following on from the children's curiosity in looking into different things further. In the last six weeks, ngā tamariki have explored a whole range of exciting learning.
We've learnt to follow patterns by placing buttons on the lines using tongs; conducted an experiment to explore more about pollution in our oceans, rivers and waterways; developed our knowledge on different shapes and gone on a treasure hunt to see what shapes we could find; practised the words and actions to different nursery rhymes and listened to the songs; explored traditional dress of different countries, how every country has a different flag and looked at where all our friends and whānau come from across the world; and coming into the colder months, practised tying our shoes and putting on our own jackets.
Currently we are strengthening our local curriculum and have recently begun trips out into our community to the Rangiora Library. All of our children are always so excited and inquisitive about what we're going to get up to each week.
Our learning here at BestStart Rangiora is always full of fun.
