Set for School
At BestStart Wainoni, our focus in the Prep Room is to support children in developing lifelong learning skills. We've collaborated with new teachers to incorporate their insights into what children need as they prepare for school. Our classroom proudly showcases a dedicated wall display for our Set for School program, highlighting the wonderful achievements our Tamariki are making in readiness for primary school.
The Set for School program emphasizes independence skills, self-care, self-management, literacy, and math skills. Currently, many of our Tamariki are eager to learn how to write their names and identify letters within them. Through discussions with whanau, we understand that name recognition and writing are priorities. In response, our teaching team has been actively supporting Tamariki on this journey. Recognizing that each child learns at their own pace, we are not only teaching writing skills but also focusing on pencil grip, forming lines, and some children are even beginning to write their surnames.
We are thrilled to see the progress our Tamariki are making and are committed to nurturing their development every step of the way. Together with whanau, we look forward to preparing our children for a successful transition to school.
