Wow, March and April have certainly seen a massive temperature change. Not that it has slowed us down. You will still see beautiful butterflies floating around the playground.

Our tamariki have been showing a special interest in nature and the change of season. This was the hot new interest in the centre until our visit from Steve. Steven Seagull must have smelt our tamariki's delicious lunches all the way from the beach. When he was spotted, perched on a fence as the children ate lunch, there was great excitement. We all know just how cheeky our local bird life can be and Steve was no exception. Ever since our visit from Steven Seagull, our planning has gone to the birds.

Last week we were again visited, this time by a stunning male Tui, singing the most beautiful song. The Tui (yet to be named) was sitting on a branch in the neighbours tree. Our tamariki all fell silent as they listened to the Tui singing his song. We have been investigating and learning so much. Did you know that only male Tui have the white ball under their chin? Our tamariki are currently investigating where birds get food during the winter months, and how we can make sure they don't go hungry.

Our Fantails (Under Two's) have been making the most of some of the sunshine we have had this week with morning tea picnics and lots of time spent playing outside. The whole centre enjoyed celebrating ANZAC day and remembering those who fought for us. Our Tui (Over two) tamariki made beautiful poppies. Several of these were placed upon the remembrance wall at our local RSA on ANZAC morning. Tino pai to mahi tamariki ma.

Wishing a fond farewell to April, as we excitedly step into a fun filled May.
