Story Book Day!
Here at Montessori Johnsonville, we enjoy developing passions for our pukapuka (books) and we enjoy having korero about Story Telling! On October 31st, wMontessori Johnsonville had their annual Story Book Dress Up Day!!
Each child was asked to bring in their favourite book, and wear the costume of their favourite character. This was a fabulous opportunity for tamariki to be creative, use their imagination and experience the magic of storytelling and storybooks coming alive. Some children even brought in two costumes and books as they could not pick a favourite!
Our kaiako got very involved and enjoyed sharing their favourite books with tamariki too! We had some Amazing Superheros, gorgeous princesses, Swashbuckling Pirates, Alluring Vampires and even a police car! We spent the morning sharing our stories and our favourite characters with each other, and learning about different types of books; Chapter Books, Film Adaptations, Graphic Novels, I-Spy Books, Fairytales as well as Non-Fiction and Fiction Books! We loved seeing the how proud each child was when they arrived with their stories, and we really enjoyed sparking passions and interests for reading and storytelling with our whānau!
One of our talented kaiako then photoshopped each teacher into their own Storybook/Movie Poster!!! We loved sharing these memories with you all.
