Team work in action!
Our tamariki love exploring in our big outdoor environment. We have a wide variety of learning opportunities for our tamariki for all the different ages and stages of development and interests. Some of these include, our sandpit, water play opportunities, monkey bars, play boxes, vegetable garden and sports equipment.
One area that is hugely popular is our manipulative play opportunities. Tamariki really enjoy making the space their own and using a variety of materials to be expressive and creative. Manipulative play offers them the perfect outlet for these great ideas and opportunity for problem solving and team work.
One sunny morning recently our tamariki used some of our pallets, planks and other resources they found to make some very neat looking car ramps. The tamariki shared their ideas and worked both independently as well and together to make a range of different ramps for their cars. Manipulative play helps children learn important thinking skills like analyzing and problem solving, things they’ll continue to develop through their life.
It was great seeing the concentration and perseverance used through this play. Tamariki learn to control their actions and gain confidence in manipulating objects to suit their needs.
