Term 3 Koru Room Highlights!
Within the Koru Room, we learned about the Olympics with a few days of trying out different activities and making our own medals. Tamariki appeared to enjoy the variety of sporting related activities such as long jump into the sandpit, throwing a ball as far as they could to represent shotput and balancing on planks to represent gymnastics.
During September, we celebrated Daffodil Day by making our own papercraft daffodils alongside kaiako, Loi. During Te Wiki o Te Reo, we engaged in various activities, particularly focusing on connecting kupu (words) with varying objects within our environment. An example of this was reading ‘Me Haere’ which is based around different vehicles and their sounds, and linking them with the physical objects within the room.
We also read pukapuka (books) based around Māori myths and legends such as ‘How Maui caught the sun’. It was wonderful to hear a lot of beautiful language coming through in both English and Te Reo Māori, along with engagement of children showing their non-verbal enjoyment.
Waterplay has been a big hit on our beautiful sunny Hawkes Bay days, and we are excited to engage in increasingly more waterplay through Summer. We invite whānau to bring in togs for your children to wear throughout their waterplay engagements.
Happy Term 4!
