Tuakana Teina
Here at Best Start Paraparaumu we truly value the importance of Tuakana-Teina relationships. This is evident throughout all three of our classrooms, as we feel that having this as an embedded practice from a very young age will support all tamariki throughout their life. Kaiako here have been working alongside one another and our whānau through an Internal Evaluation system to see what this looks like for our centre and how we can all foster this together for best learning outcomes for tamariki.
Although we have three separate classrooms within our centre, there are times during the day and also at the end of each day where we all come together. This is the time that these skills our tamariki have learnt and are still learning are really shinning and growing. Under the ECE curriculum Te Whariki it states that all tamariki have equitable opportunities for learning irrespective of gender, ability, age, ethnicity or background and what a wonderful way this is being seen within our everyday practice through a tuakana-teina approach right across the centre from whānau, kaiako, tamariki, home to centre and centre to home.
Our centre vision is Passion for learning Passion for life, and hat a great passion to learn......Tuakana-teina sets us on the right path for life.
