Visiting Te Awamutu Museum
Here at BestStart Te Awamutu, we believe the community plays an integral part in our early childhood centre and curriculum. We foster reciprocal relationships through participating in excursions and nurturing relationships with our local community organisations.
Recently, we had the exciting opportunity to visit the Te Awamutu Museum as part of their giant squid exhibition. The children were buzzing with anticipation as we made our way to the museum, eager to learn more about this fascinating creature. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who guided us through the exhibition.
The children's eyes lit up as they saw the giant squid, they were in awe of the size and detail of this magnificent creature! Throughout the exhibition, the children engaged in hands-on activities that further deepened their understanding of the giant squid. They loved feeling the texture of squid tentacles, examining squid beaks up close, and even creating their own squid artwork!
As we left the museum, the children were brimming with excitement and new knowledge about the giant squid. It was a truly memorable experience for all of us, and we are grateful to the Te Awamutu Museum for providing such a wonderful and educational opportunity for our learners. We can't wait to visit again soon!
