Whanaungatanga
Whanaungatana in Maori culture means a close connection between people and is our current group learning focus here in the Matai room. Nga Tamariki have been developing their relationships with each other through play. In this blog it shows we have been dancing to "Row row row your boat" and "Ring-a ring -a-rosie".
Holding hands and rocking or spinning around in a circle. Singing together is so much fun! It helps Tamariki practice verbal and non-verbal communication skills with each other. We have also been visiting with Twinkle (our Guinea pig) and have been using our bodies to explore the water play, jump, rock and swing outside, and most importantly have fun with our friends!
We have also been recently celebrating a number of Birthdays! Through playing with others Nga Tamariki are working towards the Te Whariki strand, Contribution Mana tangata, where they are using a range of strategies and skills to play and learn with others (te ngākau aroha) and Recognising and appreciating their own ability to learn (te rangatiratanga) and through developing their relationships they are also linking to the strand Belonging (Mana Whenua) making connections between people places and things in their world (Te Whariki 2017).

My success should not be bestowed onto me alone, it was not individual success but the success of a collective
