World Animal Day at BestStart Kelvin Grove
As part of our School Holiday programme, we decided to celebrate World Animal Day, making it a fun way to finish off the week.
Everyone was invited to dress up with some of our Tamariki and Kaiako coming dressed up in their cute animal onesies; we had all sorts of animals arrive with others choosing to celebrate their favourite animals through jumpers and t-shirts. One of our Tamariki brought in his very special cow toy to play in the setups our amazing Kaiako set up; cows are a very big part of this child's home culture so he was very excited to share his knowledge with his friends.
A couple of our children came with their faces painted as they celebrated one of their favourite Rugby teams; The Springboks! How cool that we were able to not only celebrate all of our favourite animals but also different children's culture, language and identity allowing us to live and breathe our vision of being at one with child, whānau, and community.
As well as dressing up and having face painting we had various activities and set-ups available for the Tamariki to explore and learn about the different animals while also working on some of their skills such as expressing themselves creatively through some art activities.
What a fun day!
