Our Team
At BestStart, we place people at the heart of everything we do - our children and families as well as teachers and support staff.
More than 90% of our teaching team are fully qualified with Diplomas or Bachelors degrees in Early Childhood Education, or are in training - this is above national standards in the sector. We’ve opted into Full Pay Parity, ensuring our teachers are compensated fairly for their expertise. Our teachers are highly committed to early childhood education, and we proudly support their growth through continuous professional development.

Centre managers have autonomy to ensure each centre meets the needs of their community. However, they have extensive and ongoing assistance from an Area and Regional manager as well as a network of support teams. This support ensures centres run smoothly, policies and procedures are correctly followed and that there is an excellent quality of education within all centres. BestStart’s organisational structure ensures parents have a clear process to voice concerns, as well as regular opportunities to let us know what we are doing well and where we can improve.
With over 4,500 permanent employees across teaching and support roles, all undergo regular police/safety checks to ensure our tamariki are in trusted and safe hands.
The breadth of our teaching and support teams enables us to create unique career pathways and fulfilling experiences for each individual employee. This supportive framework has contributed to an average service length of 5.2 years within our teams - something we’re very proud of!
