“Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed” - Maria Montessori

Montessori Rongotai, located on the street of Rongotai Road in Wellington, New Zealand, encompasses a diverse blend of suburban and industrial areas.

The local curriculum and surrounding community reflect this unique mix, offering a range of educational, recreational, and cultural opportunities.

We pride ourselves on establishing and maintaining strong relationships with children and families, allowing time for children to build their self-esteem and confidence. We regularly visit Kilbirnie Library, Wellington Airport, Ākau Tangi Sports Centre and our local Retirement Village.

Our centre learning is focused on five curriculum areas related to sensory development, maths, language, science and practical life experiences. We believe children thrive when they are given responsibility, independence and support from our local community and our relationships with local schools help to support children's transition in the next step of their learning journey.

Montessori Method
Montessori education comes from observing children during their moments of development. Through observation, we allow children to show us where they need most support, allowing us to support their individual needs and interests. The environment is prepared to give the child autonomy and to help the child discover, concentrate and develop holistically. As part of our philosophy, we create a calm, peaceful environment to foster children's confidence and concentration.

Kind words from parents

"Lovely little daycare. Smaller and more intimate, but still large enough for my son to get plenty of exposure to different things. I feel fully comfortable leaving my son in their care. He started at 2 years old and loves it. They were amazing getting him started with a week integration and taking the time and care to make sure he was comfortable. Now he has gained so much confidence, he calls out his friends by name, is getting his colours and shapes and is developing such an amazing personality. They include me in regular updates, so I feel like I am still very much part of it all."

"Through my husband’s work my family were lucky enough to get the chance to visit Wellington for a few months this Summer. Our twin daughters attended Montessori Rongotai and I was blown away by the level of support we received and the quality and commitment of the staff. I saw my girls develop and thrive in the calm, interesting and fun environment. Having experienced other preschool classes both in New Zealand and here in Scotland, I really would rate Rongotai as exceptional and say that any child that is fortunate enough to spend time there is exceptionally lucky."

"We love Montessori Rongotai. We feel like his needs are recognized & met. He is challenged and encouraged. Our family is included and frequently updated. We like the atmosphere, the children are happy, well cared for, all included and friendly. The staff are lovely and work hard to accommodate us and build good rapport. Thanks for all your hard work, it doesn’t go unnoticed!"
